In Rio de Janeiro’s Santa Teresa district the building destroyed by fire is to be replaced with a new single-family home. The new premises are to extend out into the plot, behind the preserved historical street façade. The project references the original semi-detached house, mirroring the number of storeys, the floor plan layout, and the roof shape. The existing firewall to the neighbouring building is to be orchestrated architecturally with staircases, ramps and skylights to create a natural circulation of air during spells of hot weather.
